Stetson University men’s soccer coach Sean Murphy was named the Central Florida chapter of The National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association’ s Coach of the Year Thursday.  Murphy led Stetson to an undefeated regular season conference record and to the finals of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament.

“I am thrilled to be selected as the NISOA Coach of the Year,” said Murphy.  “The referees have an extremely difficult task but I respect the job they do.  I’m thrilled the coaches and officials have been able to establish a relationship in promoting the game in this country.”

Stetson’s undefeated regular season record made them the first unbeaten team in the A-Sun in eleven years.  The Hatters 5-0-2 mark was the best in school history.

In nine years at Stetson, Murphy has compiled an 83-83-8 record that included the Hatters first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2005.  He has reached the post-season conference tournament every year.  Murphy was named A-Sun Coach of the Year in 2001, after taking Stetson to the school’s first ever regular season conference title.
