DeLand, Fla. ? Stetson Head Baseball Coach Pete Dunn has announced the final addition to his 2009 coaching staff. Former Stetson two-way standout Clint Chrysler is coming on board to help with the program.
Chrysler will replace Pat Leach as the team's third assistant coach. His primary duties will be to work with the outfielders and coach first base. Chrysler will also be counted on to contribute with his knowledge of pitching and hitting.
“We are very happy to have Clint back at Stetson”, said Dunn. “He was an extremely competitive and hard-nosed player for us and that is exactly what we want to instill in our team.”
Chrysler played three seasons (1995-1997) for the Hatters, including one season ('95) with Stetson's associate head coach Mitch Markham. He left school when he was drafted by the Seattle Mariners following his junior season. He played nine years of professional baseball with Seattle and Pittsburgh reaching as high as the AAA level in the Pirates organization (Nashville Sounds).
“It is good to be back at Stetson after 11 years”, said Chrysler. “It feels comfortable to come back to start a coaching career. This is a good situation for me to get involved in the program.”
Chrysler finished his Stetson career with a .309 batting average and a 3.80 ERA. On the mound he appeared in 74 games and had a record of 14-10. His junior year he hit .344 with 13 doubles, two triples, one home run and 32 RBI.
