DeLand, Fla. - The Stetson men's tennis team (7-2, 2-0 Atlantic Sun) won its fifth straight match and earned its sixth 7-0 shutout of the season by blanking A-Sun rival Jacksonville (2-4, 0-1 A-Sun) at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center on Thursday.  Four Hatters were double winners.

The first two doubles matches were split before senior Mark Mestan and sophomore Njal Stene (Oslo, Norway) beat Victor Vaz and Pitt von Oertzen 8-3 at the #3 position to give the Hatters the doubles point.  Sophomores Cesare Gallo (Portogruaro, Italy) and Maksim Levanovich (Minsk, Belarus) also won their #2 match by an 8-1 score.

Singles play went entirely in favor of the home team as all six matches ended in straight sets for Stetson.  Hatter players won 72 of the 87 games contested on the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center courts this afternoon; Gallo recorded a perfect 6-0, 6-0 shutout over Jaime Esteban in the #4 slot.

The Hatters host the other River City A-Sun squad, North Florida, at 10 a.m. Saturday.  The Stetson-UNF women's tennis match will follow at 2 p.m.  Live Stats for both matches are available at
