Orange Park, Fla. - Freshman Alexandria Buelow (Palm City, Fla.) and the Stetson women's golf team both finished in ties for fifth place as the JMU Eagle Landing Invitational came to a close on Tuesday. Buelow shot four over par 76 in the final round to record her sixth consecutive top five finish. Buelow has not placed lower than sixth in any of her seven career college competitions. Fellow freshman Anna Hancock (Lakeland, Fla.) was the low Hatter on the day, carding a 74.
Senior Danielle Jackson (Seminole, Fla.) came in with a 77 and junior Alex Banham (Birmingham, England) tallied a 79 for Stetson's other two counting scores; sophomore Lauren Cate (St. Augustine, Fla.) slipped to an 82 on Tuesday after two consistent rounds of 75-76 to begin the tournament. Jackson tied for 24th at +14 while Cate finished 17 over par in a tie for 43rd. Senior Lauren Darnell (Gainesville, Ga.) competed as an individual and shot 77 in the final round to tie with Cate.
Hailey Koschmann of Illinois went wire-to-wire to win the individual title at two under par on the week, three strokes better than Chattanooga's Emma de Groot. Abby Bools (East Carolina) placed third at +4 with USF's Shena Yang taking fourth at +5. Buelow tied at seven over par with Rachel Edwards of USF.
USF (+34) rallied to a six-stroke win over Illinois in the team standings with 36-hole leader Central Arkansas finishing third at 42 over par. Kennesaw State took fourth one stroke behind UCA with Stetson and ECU tying for fifth at 51 over par. FGCU (+52), Chattanooga (+54), Elon (+56), Kansas State (+56), Longwood (+65), host James Madison (+66), Georgetown (+71), Jacksonville (+72), Iowa (+79), Yale (+83) and High Point (+173) completed the field.
The Hatters take the next few weeks off before heading to Crystal River, Fla. for the University of Cincinnati Spring Invitational. The 54-hole event begins Friday, March 26 and concludes the following day.
