Hatters Sweep Savannah State For Third Time

Savannah, Ga. - Junior setter Kelli Carneal (Fredericksburg, Va.) had 29 assists and seven kills to lead the Stetson volleyball team (7-15) to a dominating 25-15, 25-12, 25-15 sweep at Savannah State (0-20) Tuesday evening at Wiley Gymnasium. Senior outside hitter Kaylee Ream (Venice, Fla.) led all players in the match with 15 kills.

Stetson out-hit SSU by a wide .333 to -.077 margin; Ream had more kills than the entire Lady Tigers team combined. Junior libero Monique Russell (Phoenix, Ariz.) collected a match-high 15 digs with sophomore outside hitter Kaley Melville (New Germany, Minn.) contributing nine kills and six digs. Chikia James led Savannah State with four kills.

The Hatters are back in action this Saturday, October 29 when they host A-Sun rival FGCU at 3:00 pm. Live Stats and Hatter Vision will be available at GoHatters.com. The match will be Stetson Volleyball's "Serve for the Cure" Day; the Hatters will be outfitted in pink and fans are encouraged to wear pink as well to support the fight against breast cancer. All proceeds from Saturday's match will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
