The Stetson Green team used the same winning formula on Thursday with pitching, defense and key hitting, to catapult them over the White team 7-2 to complete a sweep of the Hatter Series.

The Green team was led by freshman right-hander Josh Powers, who threw four strong innings, surrendering only three hits and one run while striking out three. Powers, a local product from New Smyrna Beach, was perfect through his first three innings.

Freshman Tyler Warmouth threw a scoreless fifth and senior Tucker Donohue closed the game by out punching out three while allowing only one unearned run over the last two innings.
Offensively, the Green Hatters did their damage in the first two innings, scoring all seven runs on six hits and two walks. Junior infielder Ryan Lashley led the barrage with two doubles and three RBI in his first two at bats.

Senior Green team co-captain Robert Crews scored twice, as did senior third baseman Ben Carhart. Freshman utility player Darby McCormick also came up big with two key RBI.
The highlights from the White team on the mound came from freshmen right-handers Ben Rakus and Ike Greenspon along with sophomore right-hander Kevin Lindheim, who managed to hold down the potent offense of the Green team over the last four innings.

Offensively, senior 1B/C Trey Blackman had two hits and a run scored, while senior co-captain Mark Jones doubled and scored the other run.
Although the series has been decided, both teams will match up again on Friday at 1:30 p.m. to finish the 2011 fall practice season for the Hatters.
