The Hatters will be looking to win their own tournament for a fifth consecutive season.
The men’s Stetson/CFSC Invitational and the women’s Holiday Inn Express/Hatter Classic will both be contested at the same time starting Monday morning at 7:30 a.m.
Both tournaments will feature seven visiting teams which are scheduled to play 36 holes of competition on Monday. The tournaments will conclude on Tuesday with 18 holes of competition.
The women’s event will feature Florida Atlantic, Daytona State, Jacksonville, Seminole State, Lipscomb, Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate.
Coach Floyd Kerr’s team is coming off a fifth place finish in its last outing at the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational. The Hatters were led by junior Alexandria Buelow, whose two-over par score of 218 was good for third place.
Buelow will be joined in the Hatter Classic by senior Lauren Cate, and sophomores Sammi Smith, Jenna Hoecker and Ryan Ashburn. Sophomore Claudia Redinger will also play as an individual.
The Hatters have owned this event in recent years, having won the team title in each of the last four years. Buelow is also a former individual champion in the event, having won in 2009. She finished third last year with a two-over par score of 218, which was the same as her winning score in 2009.
Defending tournament champion Miksuki Katahiri of Daytona State, who set a tournament record with a nine-under par score of 207 last year, is not back to defend her title.
The women will open play on the back nine on Monday with the Hatters opening play on holes, 10, 11 and 12 for the 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.
