Savannah, Ga. – While it was plenty warm outside Tiger Arena Monday night, it was freezing cold inside for the visiting Stetson Hatters, who fell to homestanding Savannah State 75-45.

The ice was all around for the Hatters (7-13), who hit just one three-pointer in the game, shot 33.3 percent from the floor overall, and hit just 10-of-23 from the free throw line.

Savannah State (10-10) found the temperature just to their liking. The Tigers blistered the nets from beyond the three-point arc, hitting 11-of-20 from long range, with seven of those 11 coming in the second half.

In addition to the poor shooting performance, the Hatters were beaten badly on the boards, giving up 50 rebounds, including 21 on the offensive end to the Tigers. Stetson managed just 34 rebounds in the game.

The Hatters had the worst offensive half of any Stetson team since at least the 2004-05 season, scoring just 13 points in the first half and trailing the Tigers 35-13 at intermission. Stetson had just five baskets in the half, and turned the ball over 11 times.

The second half was marked by the outside shooting of Savannah State’s Deric Rudolph, who hit five three-pointers after intermission and finished with a game-high 20 points. Preston Blackmon hit five three-pointers in the game as well and finished with 15 points.

Stetson was led offensively by Chris Perez with 12 points, 10 of which came in the second half. Willie Green came off the bench to score 10 points for the Hatters, all in the second half.

The Hatters will return to action at the Edmunds Center on Saturday afternoon to start the second half of the Atlantic Sun Conference season. Conference co-leader Mercer will be in town to open a two-game weekend. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
