Buelow Headed to Ohio for NCAA Regional

Indianapolis, Ind. – Stetson University junior Alexandria Buelow was one of 18 individual players from across the country selected to participate in the 2012 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship.

The field for the event, which was announced on Monday evening, has been divided into three regional tournaments, all of which will be played May 10-12. A total of 378 players, 72 teams of five plus the 18 individuals, will compete in Regional Tournaments hosted by Penn State University in State College, Pa., Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, and the University of Colorado in Erie, Colo.

Buelow, who is making her third trip the NCAA Tournament, but her first as an individual player, will be joined by players from Nebraska, Miami, Coastal Carolina and East Tennessee State in competition at the Ohio State Scarlet Course.

After regional play is completed, the top eight teams from each regional, plus the top two players not on an advancing team, will move on to the NCAA Championship, which is scheduled for May 22-25 at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.

As a sophomore, Buelow tied for 31st at the 2011 NCAA East Regional Tournament, which was played on the Legends Course at LPGA International in Daytona Beach. As a freshman she tied for 30th in the 2010 East Regional, which was played at Ironwood Country Club in Greenville, N.C.

Buelow enters the NCAA Regional ranked eighth individually in the nation, according to, with a season stroke average of 72.38. Despite her lofty individual ranking, she is seeded second in the Central Regional behind Madeleine Sheils of Nebraska, who is ranked 72nd in the nation according to

Sophomore Emily Tubert of the University of Arkansas, who is ranked third in the nation with a 72.22 stroke average, is the only player who will compete in the Central Regional who is ranked higher than Buelow.
