DeLand, Fla. - After adding Laurynas Antropikas (Palanga, Lithuania) and Simon Julin (Stockholm, Sweden) last week, Stetson Director of Tennis Pierre Pilote announced the completion of his incoming 2012-13 class Wednesday. Cahit Kapukiran (Izmir, Turkey) will be a freshman for the Hatters next season.

The 5'10" Kapukiran has been ranked as the #1 junior player in his native Turkey in both the U-18 and U-16 divisions with a high International Tennis Federation ranking of #180 in 2011. That ranking makes him the second highest-ranked ITF player in Stetson men's tennis history behind only Cesare Gallo '11.

Last month at the Antalya (Turkey) Futures event he earned his first ATP tour point while two years ago Kapukiran won the Turkish U-18 national championship at the age of 16. He will be the fifth player in program history to have picked up ATP points prior to starting at Stetson, joining Gallo, Maksim Levanovich, Njal Stene and Mark Mestan '10.

"Cahit brings a wealth of international experience to our program," said Pilote. "He has played in and had success in a number of tournaments around the world in the past three years. The additions of Cahit, Laurynas and Simon are significant for the future of our program."

The owner of 52 singles and 36 doubles wins in ITF action, he is the son of Yusuf and Aysun Kapukiran.

Stetson went 17-5 (7-2 A-Sun) in 2012 and is slated to return four starters next season.
