One of the newest members of the Stetson University baseball program capped his prep career this week by earning a pair of All-America honors.

Left-handed pitcher Adam Schaly, a signee from Ashland High School in Ashland, Ohio, was named as a third team All-American by Baseball America and as a first team All-American by Collegiate Baseball.

Schaly, who is the son of Division II Ashland University baseball coach John Schaly, comes from a family rich in baseball tradition. In addition to his father, his late grandfather, Don Schaly, served as head baseball coach at Division III Marietta College for 40 seasons. He has two uncles involved in baseball, one as a coach of Division III Thiel College, one as a professional umpire, and a third who serves as Sports Information Director at Marietta.

This past season at Ashland Schaly, who is listed at 6-foot-2 inches tall and 195 pounds, posted an 11-0 record with a sparkling 0.44 ERA on the mound. He recorded 123 strikeouts with just 22 walks in 63 innings of work.

In addition to his work on the mound, the switch-hitting Schaly batted .391 while leading his team in hits, runs and doubles. A first baseman and right fielder, he ended his career with a 14-game hitting streak.

For his career on the mound he had a 23-6 record with a 1.76 ERA in 171.2 innings of work. He had six shutouts as a senior and pitched 33.2 consecutive scoreless innings. He had three no-hitters during his final two seasons at Ashland. One included 19 strikeouts, and another was a perfect game.

In addition to his All-America honors, Schaly was named the Gatorade Ohio Player of the Year.
