Stetson University volleyball head coach Tim Loesch announced the hiring Tuesday of Kris Wojieck as an assistant coach for both the Hatters court volleyball and sand volleyball programs.

"We welcome Kris to the Stetson volleyball family," Loesch said.  "Her good work at UNC Pembroke and Queens University shows that she is ready for the challenge of Division I coaching.  I look forward to her help in continuing to build the Stetson volleyball programs."

"I am excited to join the Hatter family and to have the opportunity to help build on the success of the volleyball program," Wojieck said.  "Coach Loesch has turned a corner with this program and I look forward to working with him in both indoor and sand."

Wojieck comes to Stetson from UNC Pembroke, where she spent the last six years as an assistant coach for the Braves.  Her responsibilities included defensive player development, recruiting, statistics, summer camps and academic advising.

During her time at UNCP, the volleyball team recorded the highest grade point average among all of the varsity athletic teams. The volleyball program also won the Braves' Cup in 2008, which is given to the team with the highest cumulative grade point average.  In 2011, the Braves finished third in the Peach Belt Conference, trailing only top 25 programs Armstrong Atlantic and Flagler.

"Coach Jeff Billington allowed me to work in all aspects of the game and I am grateful for his training," Wojieck said.

From 2011-12, Wojieck coached the Fayetteville Area Volleyball Association club team, helping to build a program that finished ninth in a National Division qualifier.

Wojieck previously served as a graduate assistant at her alma mater, Queens University of Charlotte, where she worked with the defensive players and provided oversight of the Royals' academic development.

A veteran camp instructor, Wojieck has taught at the Jeff Billington Volleyball Camps in Maryland and North Carolina, and at the Duke, Wake Forest and Virginia Tech Volleyball Camps as a court coach. She also served as an assistant coach with the Iredell County Stars Junior Olympics program in Statesville, N.C. in the spring of 2005.

Wojieck played for the Queens University Royals from 2000-03. Her junior and senior seasons saw the Lewisburg, W.V., native play over 200 games, accumulating 610 digs, including a team-high 321 digs her senior year.

Wojieck graduated from Queens in 2003 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Corporate Communications. In May 2007, she completed her Master's Degree in Business Administration at UNC Pembroke.

Stetson opens its 2012 season on Aug. 24 vs. Jacksonville State.
