Future Hatters Claim ASA Softball Championship

Four members of the Stetson University softball team won the ASA / USA Class A 18-Under Championship this past weekend in Johnson City, Tenn.  Incoming freshmen Kayla Drury (DeLand, Fla.), Jessica Griffin (Port Saint John, Fla.), Morgan Hatch (Orlando, Fla.), and Molly Shasteen (Orlando, Fla.), playing for the Central Florida Sting Black team, went a perfect 8-0 during the national championship tournament including a 1-0 victory Sunday in the title game over the Carolina Cardinals.

In Saturday night's winner's bracket semifinal, Hatch hit a two-out, two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the eighth inning in the Sting's 3-2 win over the Cardinals.  The Sting won six of their eight games by just one run.
