The Stetson women’s soccer team (1-4-0) returns home after a trip to the Trojan Classic this past weekend. The Hatters will host Florida Atlantic (1-4-0) on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in hopes of winning their second straight home match.
The Owls opened the season with an overtime home loss to Jacksonville, and then began a five game road trip culminating with the contest in DeLand. FAU dropped a 7-0 tilt at Illinois State before defeating Green Bay 2-1. Most recently the Owls lost to Northern Arizona and UNLV out in Las Vegas. Claire Emslie and Taylor Sorrels lead FAU with one goal and one assist each.
Stetson trails FAU in the all-time series between the two teams, as the Owls hold a slight 15-10-0 advantage since the Hatters' first season in 1993. Last season Florida Atlantic defeated Stetson by a score of 2-0 in Boca Raton, defeating the Hatters for the first time since 2006.
The Hatters return home after going 0-2 at the Trojan Classic, but the new game field at the Athletics Training Center is where Stetson picked up its first win of the season back on August 25. Junior Alyssa Welsh scored both SU goals en route to a 2-1 overtime victory over Embry-Riddle.
