host to UAB on Friday at 4:00 p.m., and traveling to Furman on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The Hatters will look to win their third straight home contest after defeating Embry-Riddle and Florida Atlantic in DeLand earlier this season.
Stetson won its second game of the season in fine fashion last Saturday, as the Hatters topped Florida Atlantic by a score of 5-2. Stetson gave up an early score to the Owls, but kept the offense coming as the Hatters took a 2-1 lead at the half. SU continued to pressure the FAU defense until five different players scored en route to the team's 5-2 home victory. It was the first time Stetson scored five goals in a game since a 6-3 victory over USC Upstate on October 16, 2011.
UAB comes to DeLand still searching for its first win of 2012. The Blazers have begun the season 0-6-0 with two home losses and four on the road. After three shutouts to start the year, UAB has picked up the scoring recently, tallying four goals in its last three contests. Sophomore Johanna Liney leads the Blazers with two goals on the season.
Furman will welcome Stetson to Greenville with a record of 6-1-0 this season. The Paladins are a perfect 5-0 at the comforts of home in 2012, including victories over the Atlantic Sun's North Florida and Jacksonville. Furman is outscoring its opponents 16-3, which includes five shutouts. Freshman Stephanie DeVita has already tallied a staggering seven goals on the season to lead the Paladins.
Friday will mark the first ever match between Stetson and UAB, while Sunday's contest will be just the second in the all-time series between the Hatters and Furman. Last season the Paladins defeated Stetson by a score of 2-0 in DeLand.
