BEFORE STETSON: Spent one year at Limestone College in Gaffney, SC. 

HIGH SCHOOL:  In just two seasons of lacrosse at Jensen Beach High, she posted a dominating 64 goals, 25 assists, 93 ground balls and 64 caused turnovers as she earned All-District 9 and All-League first-team honors ... As a junior she was named Most Improved following the program's first season ... In addition to lacrosse, she was active for years in gymnastics, was a three-year letter winner in basketball and a one-year letter winner in cross country and track and field ... Was an honor roll student, was active with Habitat for Humanity and was a member of the Homecoming Committee. 

PERSONAL: Full name is Samantha Akl … Was born on June 16, 1993, in Boston, Mass. … Parents are Melinda and Abdo Akl … Has one brother, Antonio (17) ... Is a Chemistry major.

WHY STETSON: "The opportunity to play lacrosse initially brought me to Stetson. When I came to visit, I just felt that I was in the right place. That finalized my decision to become a Hatter."

HOBBIES: Playing guitar.
