ORLANDO, Fla. -
The Stetson women's tennis team completed the final day of play at the Knights
Invitational in Orlando on Sunday. The Hatters competed against players from
Florida Gulf Coast and UCF on the day.
In doubles play, Stetson picked up three wins. The duo of
Diana Bukajeva and Andrea Crespo defeated Gyanna Mandic and Morgan Becthel (FGCU)
8-2. Sara Lazarevic and Jen Miller were also victorious, defeating Bettina
Botha and Johanna Sterkel (FGCU) 8-6. Clarke Tatje and Rachel Luke won their
match against Zhoe Solaun and Marina Diez (FGCU) 8-1.
The duo of Lindsey Cable and MayaBlue Stauffer MacDowell
came up just short in their match, losing to Sara Means and Elizabeth Means
(FGCU) 9-8.
In singles play, the Hatters picked up three wins. Andrea
Crespo won her match, defeating Genevieve Lorbergs (UCF) 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (11-9).
MayaBlue Stauffer-MacDowell defeated Katie Spivak (UCF) 6-4, 6-2. Clarke Tatje
picked up a win, defeating Clare Mendell (UCF) 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8).
Sara Lazarevic fell to Jenna Doerfler (UCF) 6-4, 6-4.
Lindsey Cable was also defeated, losing to Josephine Haraldson (UCF) 6-3, 6-3.
Courtney Griffith (UCF) defeated Diana Bukajeva 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-8). Jen
Miller lost to Caroline Eberhart 6-1, 7-5 and Rachel Luke was defeated by
Ann-Sophie Porry (UCF) 6-3, 6-1.
The Hatters will be back in action next weekend when they
travel to Winston Salem, N.C. to compete in the Wake Forest Invitational
October 5-7.
