The Stetson women's
soccer team (3-10-1, 1-4-1) stays on the road for a single game this weekend,
playing at Florida Gulf Coast (9-3-3, 4-1-1) on Saturday. The Hatters and the Eagles are scheduled to
kick off at 7:00 p.m. in Fort Myers.
Florida Gulf Coast
welcomes Stetson to town with an overall record of 9-3-3, and an Atlantic Sun
Conference-leading 13 points. The Eagles
were riding a four-game winning streak before this past weekend, in which they
fell to North Florida and tied Jacksonville.
FGCU is 5-1-1 at home in 2012 with its only loss coming to then No. 12
UCF back in August. Shannen Wacker leads
the Eagles with 10 goals and one assist for 21 points, while two-time A-Sun
Defensive Player of the Week Brittany Brown has tallied four shutouts in goal.
FGCU holds a 4-1-0
advantage over Stetson in the all-time series, which dates back to 2007 when
the Hatters won 3-2 in the first ever meeting.
Last year the Eagles won by a score of 1-0 in DeLand.
Stetson is enjoying
playing on Saturdays thus far in 2012.
The Hatters are 2-0-0 with two of their three victories coming on
Saturday. The squad defeated
Embry-Riddle by a score of 2-1 in overtime on Saturday, August 25, and then
topped Florida Atlantic 5-2 on Saturday, September 8.
