The Stetson women's soccer team returns home for its final two games of the season this weekend. The Hatters will host Mercer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night, and then welcome Kennesaw State to town for Senior Day on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
Mercer comes to DeLand riding a three game winning streak and hasn't lost a match since falling to Georgia State on the road by a score of 1-0 back on September 7. The Bears are 11-3-3 overall, and an undefeated 5-0-2 in the A-Sun, but are only 4-3-2 on the road in 2012. Lauren Gassie leads Mercer with six goals and six assists for 18 points this season, while Tess Patton has added six goals and one assist.
Kennesaw State will challenge Stetson after playing at FGCU on Friday. The Owls are in the midst of a five game winning streak and are an astounding 4-0-0 in road contests this season. Katrina Frost and Danielle Gray have recorded nine goals and three assists, and eight goals and three assists to lead KSU in 2012, respectively.
Stetson holds a slight 7-6-2 advantage in the all-time series against Mercer, which dates back to 1993 when the Bears won 9-1 in Macon. Last season the two teams tied 2-2 and Mercer hasn't won in the rivalry since 2008. Kennesaw State, meanwhile, owns a 4-2-1 advantage over SU in the all-time series, dating back to a 4-1 Owl victory in 2003. Last year KSU won 2-0 in Kennesaw.
Don't forget that Sunday is Senior Day for the Hatters. Stetson will be celebrating the careers of senior Kaisi Hartwick and redshirt junior Kristen Mueller prior to the game against Kennesaw State.
As always fans unable to make it out to this weekend's games can follow @StetsonWSoccer on Twitter for in-game updates, track the Live Stats on GoHatters.com, or watch the matches on HatterVision.
New this week for Stetson fans is the introduction of "Hat-Alerts." The Stetson University Department of Athletics has teamed up with TextCaster to launch a new text messaging communications service for its fans.
A new way for fans to get immediate updates on their favorite Hatter teams, Hat-Alerts is a free service that sends text messages right to people's cell phones. Hat-Alerts will broadcast score updates, athletics news, ticket information, promotions, and even weather delays.
For soccer fans, subscribers can choose either "scores" (scores sent at halftime and final), and/or "news" (previews, recaps, and other soccer news).
