After an eight-day layoff, the Stetson women’s basketball team returns to the court Tuesday to face Lynn University on the fourth annual Volusia County Schoolchildren Day. The special tip-off time at the Edmunds Center is set for 11 a.m.
The Hatters (3-3 overall) are undefeated at home and are coming off a 78-66 win over Ball State on Nov. 25. Stetson knocked down a school-record 14 three-pointers in that game and dished out 24 assists.
Lynn University, a Division II program from Boca Raton, Fla., is off to a strong start this season. The Fighting Knights (5-1) won their first five games of the season before falling to Florida Southern 59-52 on Saturday.
Students from several local elementary schools will be in attendance on Tuesday. In last year's schoolchildren game the Hatters defeated ETSU 68-60 in front of 3417 spirited young fans.
Regardless of age, the Hatters have been giving all of their fans a lot to cheer about lately. Stetson has won seven straight and 19 of its last 20 games at the Edmunds Center. In the three home games this year, the Hatters have trailed for only 1:40 of the 120 minutes played.
Stetson has also been knocking down three-pointers at a fantastic rate. In addition to the school record set last Sunday, the Hatters lead the Atlantic Sun Conference and rank among the top 30 nationally in three-pointers made per game (7.8) and three-point field goal percentage (.373).
