The Stetson men's basketball team (5-10, 2-2) heads back on the road for a pair of Atlantic Sun Conference games this weekend. The Hatters play at ETSU (3-12, 1-1) on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and at USC Upstate (8-7, 2-0) on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
Stetson has won two out of its last three contests, picking up victories over Kennesaw State and Jacksonville to improve to 2-2 in Atlantic Sun play. The Hatters will attempt to move above .500 in league action against ETSU on Thursday.
The Bucs, who have recorded winning seasons dating back to 2005-06, welcome Stetson to town with just a 3-12 overall record. ETSU has split its first two A-Sun contests though, falling to Lipscomb and defeating Northern Kentucky on the road.
ETSU holds a 10-7 advantage over Stetson in the all-time series, but the two squads have split the regular season series each of the last four seasons. In 2011-12 the Hatters came out on top in DeLand 73-65, but the Bucs won in Johnson City 72-56.
After challenging the Bucs on Thursday, the Hatters will continue the road trip to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on a hot USC Upstate squad. The Spartans have won four straight heading into this weekend's games, including a 2-0 start to league play with wins over NKU and Lipscomb.
Upstate has the A-Sun Preseason Player of the Year on its roster in Torrey Craig. The junior is second in the league with 17.0 points per game, and adds 5.9 rebounds per tilt. Craig and the Spartans will attempt to improve on their 5-4 record against Stetson on Saturday, which includes the wins in the last three meetings.
Thursday's game at ETSU can be watched on ASun.TV and HatterVision with coverage via ETSU Athletics. Saturday's contest will not be on ASun.TV or HatterVision, as it will be aired live and for free on ESPN3 and Watch ESPN.
Robbie Aaron will provide play-by-play for both games with coverage on WSBB 1230 AM, 1490 AM, and MyAM1230.com. Live Stats, the @StetsonMBB Twitter feed, and Hat-Alerts are also available for in-game updates.
