SKILLMAN, N.J. - The
Stetson men's tennis team was once again ranked nationally by the Intercollegiate
Tennis Association (ITA) this week, as was released on Tuesday afternoon. The Hatters dropped one spot to number 72 in
the rankings.
Stetson was ranked 72nd going into its match
against Flagler this past weekend. The
Hatters won 7-0 to improve to 2-0 on the season, their sixth straight year
beginning with a pair of victories.
"If it was not for a couple of big upsets this week, we probably
would have moved up a couple of spots following our win against Flagler College,"
Stetson Director of Tennis Pierre Pilote said.
The Hatters were joined in the rankings by fellow Atlantic
Sun Conference competitors North Florida (62nd) and ETSU (74th).
Stetson will continue the 2013 season on Sunday, Feb. 17, hosting
Florida A&M. The match is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
"With no rankings to be released next week because of the
indoor championships, our inactivity this weekend will not hurt our position in
the national rankings."
