Hatters Hold Lead After Opening Day of Play

ORMAND BEACH – The Stetson University men's golf team took the early lead at the Gary Freeman/Bethune-Cookman Invitational on Sunday.

The Hatters owned a three shot lead over Florida Atlantic and a five-stroke advantage over Rollins following the first round of play. Play in the second round was suspended by darkness with three holes remaining on Sunday.

Play in the second round was scheduled to begin first thing on Monday morning with the third, and final, round of competition to begin immediately after completion of the second round.

Stetson freshman Dustin Dingus was just one shot off the individual lead, tied with four other players, after posting an opening round score of 74. Davis Hall of Rollins owned the first round individual lead after finishing the first round with a one-over par score of 73 at the Halifax Plantation Golf Club.

Fellow freshman Michael Primavera, along with junior Tyler White, posted opening round scores of 76 to tie for ninth after the first round, just three shots off the lead.

Freshman Andrew Peterson and sophomore Matt Taylor both held spots in the top 20 after opening round scored of 77 and 79 respectively.
