The Stetson sand volleyball team had its final tune-up before the season begins with a Thursday afternoon scrimmage at Webber International University.

The teams did not compete in a typical match play format but rather played numerous head-to-head matches with each school winning an equal number of games.

"Everyone on our roster got to play and Webber provided very good competition," head coach Tim Loesch said. "It was great to play against such strong teams in preparation for this weekend."

Webber provided a cook-out for both teams following the scrimmage.

"All of our players were always fighting for every point, so there were many extended rallies and long games between the teams," Loesch said.

The Hatters open the 2013 at the Ron Jon Beach 'N Boards Fest Saturday in Cocoa Beach.
