Winners of four of its last five games, the Stetson softball team hosts UNF at 5 p.m. tonight in a huge midweek Atlantic Sun doubleheader at Patricia Wilson Field.
The start time was changed from its original 4 p.m. start. The games can be seen for free on HatterVision and ASun.TV.
Stetson (24-17, 7-10) kept its postseason hopes alive with a series win over Kennesaw State this past weekend. By winning Sunday's series finale 4-2, the Hatters moved within two games of KSU and within one game of Mercer in the league standings. The Hatters have four games at hand on both teams.
Junior Meredith Owen went 3-0 in the circle last week week en route to her second A-Sun Pitcher of the Week honor this season. She allowed just three runs over 19 innings and opponents hit just .164 against her.
Freshman Jessica Griffin was named the league's Player of the Week after batting .538 with hits and runs in all five Stetson contests. She drove in a key run in the bottom of the second inning on Sunday.
Chrissy Morello and Morgan Hatch have also been red-hot of late. Morello is riding a 10-game hitting streak, while Hatch has three home runs and eight RBI in the last six games.
UNF (33-11, 11-4), meanwhile, helped the Hatters by sweeping Mercer at home last weekend. The Ospreys enter Wednesday's doubleheader with the second-lowest ERA in the conference at 1.94. Sophomore pitcher Kaylie Wallace leads the league in victories (17) and ERA (1.54).
UNF leads the all-time series 15-12, and the teams split their two games in DeLand last year. UNF won game one 1-0 behind Wallace's two-hit shutout, while the Hatters took game two 7-0 behind a one-hit shutout by Courtney Brandt.
Tickets are $6 for reserved seats and $5 for general admission. Fans can also follow the game with live stats from GoHatters.com, the Stetson Softball twitter feed, and with the Hat-Alerts text messaging system.
