After leading the Hatters to three straight postseason appearances, Stetson University women's basketball head coach Lynn Bria has signed a four-year contract extension, Director of Athletics Jeff Altier announced on Tuesday.

"In the time since Coach Bria became the 'Head Hatter' in 2008, the women’s basketball program has experienced unprecedented success," Altier said. "Words cannot express how happy I am for the faculty, staff, students and alumni of Stetson University, to know that Coach Bria will continue to lead the program. Personally, I am thrilled to have the opportunity of working in partnership with an outstanding coach and person."

Over just the past three seasons, Bria has guided the Hatters to two Atlantic Sun Conference Championships, two NCAA Tournament appearances, a WNIT appearance, and three straight 20+ win seasons for a total of 67 victories. Last season was the most successful campaign in school history as the Hatters (24-9) won a school-record 24 games including a record 11-straight at one point, captured the A-Sun title and claimed its highest-ever seed for the NCAA Tournament (14).

"I am extremely grateful to Jeff Altier and President Dr. Wendy Libby for the opportunity to continue to work at such an incredible university," Bria said.  "I have been blessed with great student-athletes and assistant coaches and I hope the program can continue to achieve new levels of success."

In her five seasons at the helm of the program, Bria has led the Hatters to a 81-79 overall mark. She has seen eight of her student-athletes earn all-conference recognition, including 2012 A-Sun Player of the Year Victoria McGowan, and 18 players have been selected as one of the league's weekly award winners.

Bria's 18-year career as a head coach includes 234 victories and three conference championships.

The Hatters will open the 2013-14 season on Nov. 8 at Oklahoma.
