The Stetson men's basketball team returns to the state of Florida, but continues its road trip, taking on Florida A&M in Tallahassee on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are looking to pick up their first win of the 2013-14 season.
Following the most challenging weekend on the schedule for Stetson, the Hatters (0-2) continue their eight-game road trip with a trip to head coach Corey Williams’ former stomping grounds. An assistant under Leonard Hamilton at Florida State in Tallahassee for six seasons, Williams has enjoyed much success in Florida’s capital city.
Florida A&M is in its third season under alum Clemon Johnson, and the Rattlers are looking for their first winning season since 2006-07. FAMU returns its top four scorers from a year ago, in which the team went just 8-23. Jamie Adams led the way for the Rattlers with 14.0 points per game, 93 assists, and 56 three-pointers last year, and returns in 2013-14 for his senior season.
The Rattlers (0-2) opened this season with two road contests, falling at Rutgers 92-84 and then dropping a 67-50 tilt at Princeton. Florida A&M was led by senior Muhammad Abdul-Aleem on opening weekend, averaging 11.0 points per game off the bench.
Last season Stetson defeated Florida A&M by a score of 88-66 to earn its first victory of the season in the Hatters’ home opener. Senior Aaron Graham poured in 16 points on three triples, while senior Willie Green had nine points and six points in the win.
