Stetson University volleyball senior Kaley Melville has been named to the All-Atlantic Sun Second Team while Tiffany Creamer has been unanimously selected to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman team, the league announced on Tuesday.
One of just two players in the league to record over 400 kills and 300 digs this season, Melville is averaging 3.34 kills and 2.74 digs per set. She is just the seventh player in school history to record over 400 kills in a season, and she is the only player in school history to record over 1200 kills and 1100 digs in a career. This season she recorded double-digit kills 24 times, including a school-record 28 kills against UNF on Sept. 20. She was later named the league's Player of the Week.
Creamer, meanwhile, set the school record for most kills by a freshman, totaling 344 kills heading into the A-Sun tournament. She was selected as the A-Sun Freshman of the Week four times, and ranks second among A-Sun freshmen in kills and kills-per-set (2.89). She has reached double-digit kills 19 times, including 13 times in conference matches, and she record a season-high 23 kills against UNF on Nov. 5.
Melville and Creamer have helped guide the Hatters (18-15, 9-9 A-Sun) to their highest win total since 1988 and their first postseason appearance since 1995.
Melville is the first Hatter since Kira Smedley in 2004 to earn first or second team all-conference recognition, while Creamer is the first Hatter since Kelli Carneal in 2009 to earn all-freshman team honors.
No. 5 seed Stetson will face no. 4 seed FGCU in the A-Sun tournament finals Thursday at 5 p.m. in Kennesaw, Ga. The match will be broadcast live by ESPN3.
