The Stetson men’s basketball team returns to the court on Thursday, playing host to ETSU at 7:00 p.m. in an Atlantic Sun Conference contest at the Edmunds Center.
The Hatters (3-14, 1-4) dropped both games of their first conference road trip of the season, but Stetson returns home for a pair of games this weekend, where the team has enjoyed some success. All three of the Hatters’ triumphs have come at the Edmunds Center, including a conference victory over Lipscomb to start A-Sun play.
Thursday marks a rematch of last season’s A-Sun Quarterfinals when Stetson defeated ETSU 67-46. The Hatters held the Bucs to their lowest scoring output ever against Stetson, and allowed ETSU to shoot just 25.4 percent from the floor, the worst ever in the A-Sun Tournament.
Before the Hatters topped the Bucs to reach their first A-Sun Semifinal since 2005-06, Stetson and ETSU split their regular season series a year ago. The Hatters won 72-70 in Johnson City, and the Bucs overcame a 20-point deficit to win 62-61 in the final moments in DeLand. ETSU leads the all-time series 11-9, but Stetson has won four of the last six meetings.
ETSU makes the trip to Florida with an overall record of 9-8 and an A-Sun mark of 2-2. The Bucs have conference wins over Kennesaw State and Northern Kentucky, but have lost to Mercer and Lipscomb. Rashawn Rembert, who knocked down the game-winner in DeLand last season, leads ETSU with 15.4 points per game.
