MACON, Ga. – Stetson men’s basketball junior Kentwan Smith earned Atlantic Sun Conference Co-Newcomer of the Week honors for his performance in the Hatters’ game against Florida Gulf Coast this weekend, as announced by the league on Monday.
Smith garnered his first accolades from the conference after pouring in a game high 22 points, tying a career high with 10 rebounds, and grabbing a career-best five steals in a three-point loss to the Eagles on Friday. It marked his first double-double of the season, and the third for any Stetson player this year.
This weekend marked Smith’s second game with 20 or more points on the year, having gone for a career high 27 at North Florida back on Jan. 11. He’s now second on the team with 10.0 points per game, and has upped that average to 12.8 per contest during league play.
Stetson returns to action on Thursday and Saturday of this week. The Hatters (6-16, 4-6) host North Florida on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and then welcome Jacksonville to the Edmunds Center on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
