MACON, Ga. – Stetson University freshman outfielder Jessie TenBroeck has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Softball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. The honor came following a weekend in which Tenbroeck hit a blistering .556 (10-18) during a five game stretch in the Hatter Invitational.
The Live Oak, Fla., native amassed two triples, a double and five RBI on her way to All-Tournament Team honors. She also drew two walks, stole five bases and had a .600 on base percentage as Stetson went 4-1 during the three-day tournament.
TenBroeck’s signature moment of the weekend came Friday night vs. Campbell, when in the eighth inning her three-run triple helped clinch the victory for the Hatters. To go along with her six runs scored, the first-year outfielder had four multi-hit games including a three-hit performance during the extra inning contest with the Camels.
In just her first seven games of collegiate ball, TenBroeck is leading the Hatters in average (.480), hits (12), runs scored (11) and stolen bases (7). She is second on the team with five RBI and a .519 on base percentage and is third in total bases with 17. Her stats are equally as strong, stacked up against her A-Sun peers as she leads the conference in runs scored and triples, and is tied for first in stolen bases. She also tied for fourth in hits, is fifth in batting average and ranks eighth in on base percentage among A-Sun players.
TenBroeck’s next chance to add to her already impressive numbers comes in two weeks as Stetson travels to Orlando to take part in the UCF Tournament. The Hatters (6-1) will take on Princeton, the College of Charleston, UT Martin and SIUE during the two-day tournament.
