Off to its best start in 10 years, the Stetson softball team debuted at no. 35 in the first NCAA Softball RPI ranking of 2014, which was released on Monday.

Stetson boasts the third-highest RPI ranking among teams from the state of Florida, behind Florida (no. 3) and Florida State (no. 4).  The Hatters also own the third highest ranking among Atlantic Sun schools, behind USC Upstate (no. 25) and Lipscomb (no. 30).

The RPI, or Ratings Percentage Index, is a mathematical formula used by the NCAA to rank teams based on their won-loss percentage and strength of schedule.

Stetson will carry a 21-5 record and a six-game winning streak into Wednesday night's home game against Bethune-Cookman.  First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
