Looking to bounce back from Wednesday's non-conference loss to UCF, Stetson will return to Atlantic Sun play this weekend as the Hatters visit Kennesaw State for a three-game series at Bailey Park. The teams will play a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday and a single game at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Stetson (28-6, 12-2 A-Sun) is currently in the thick of the conference race, just three games behind league-leader USC Upstate in the win column with three games at hand. The second-place Hatters have 12 A-Sun games remaining - six at home and six on the road. The top two teams in the regular season receive first-round byes in the conference tournament.
The Owls (20-21, 9-9 A-Sun), meanwhile, are in fifth place following Wednesday's 5-4 win over Mercer. Pitcher Amanda Henderson recorded her 16th win of the season, pulling her into a tie with Stetson's Meredith Owen (16-4) for the A-Sun lead in victories.
The Hatters entered the week with the 11th-highest scoring offense in the nation, averaging 6.6 runs per game. Stetson's team batting average of .327 ranked 13th in the NCAA, and the team's slugging pct. of .516 ranked 16th.
Stetson's pitching staff has also been red-hot, holding opponents to one run or less in six straight games. Owen ranks fourth in the country in ERA (0.75), and she is just seven strikeouts shy of 500 for her career. Only three other Hatters have reached that milestone. Stetson's 1.69 staff ERA ranks 12th in the country.
The all-time series between Stetson and Kennesaw State is tied 10-10.
