Stetson men's soccer standout Jeppe Moe recently signed a professional contract with Stabak FC in his home country of Norway. Moe and Stabak are currently training in Malta and open their season on March 11.
“I think we certainly will miss him on the field and in the locker room,” said Stetson head coach Ernie Yarborough, “but it's a well-deserved opportunity and one that he relished. We knew this might happen when he had an opportunity to train with them over the winter break. Hopefully this will be a benefit to us in the long term to be able say we can produce not just professionals, but European professionals.”
Moe recently completed his sophomore season with the Hatters. The 20-year old defender appeared in 31 games at Stetson, scoring two goals and dishing five assists. He earned Atlantic Sun Conference all-freshman honors in 2014.
“It's something I've dreamed about for a long time,” Moe told the club's official website. “To do it now, I am both proud and happy. For me it is important to get a good pre-season now, where I'm working hard and getting to show the coaches that I'm good enough.”
Stabak will begin play in the Europa League this year after finishing third in the Norwegian first division in 2015. Former U.S Men's National Team head coach Bob Bradley served as Stabak's director last year.
Moe's signing continues an impressive trend for Yarborough, as he's had at least one player sign a professional contract in each his five full-time coaching stops.
