The fourth day of preseason practice for the 2016 Stetson University football team wrapped up on Friday evening as the Hatters continue their preparation for the rigors of the upcoming season.
Once again, the team ran individual drills alongside their teammates at their respectable positions, while mixing in combined offense versus defense drills, such as wide receivers against defensive backs and offensive live against defensive line. Stetson also scrimmaged full plays in preparation for the upcoming season.
“Some roles are pretty well defined, so it's easier to assimilate to them,” said head coach Roger Hughes. “Some roles are still being defined and they're fighting for different roles, like starting positions and things like that.”
As the offseason rust continues to chip away, the team looks to be quickly developing as the fluidity in practice has become more and more evident after four days.
“I think our team chemistry has been very good, I think we love each other more,” Hughes added. “It all comes down to trusting each other and loving each other, and if you do those things you tend to take care of each other.”
The 2016 Stetson football team will open with three consecutive home games in September at Spec Martin Memorial Stadium.
