DeLand, Fla. ? Fresh off a successful season that featured an Atlantic Sun Conference regular season co-championship and a trip to the A-Sun tournament finals, the Stetson women's tennis team made its first ever appearance in the season-ending Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) South Region Rankings. The Hatters, who finished the spring 14-8 overall and 8-1 in A-Sun matches, are ranked 15th.
The ITA South Region rankings feature some of the top teams in NCAA Division I women's tennis, including national semifinalist Georgia and quarterfinalist Miami (Fla.), ranked first and second in the region, respectively. The top 10 teams in the rankings all qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
“It is very nice for our program to be recognized like this, especially in such a tough region,” Head Coach Sasha Schmid said. Schmid was honored in April as the A-Sun Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.

The Hatters return eight of 10 letterwinners for next season, including rising senior First Team All-Conference selection Valentina Galbarini (Montevideo, Uruguay) and All-Freshman Team pick Shannon Gunning (Boca Raton, Fla.), a rising sophomore.
