DeLand, Fla. - Stetson University Head Women's Basketball Coach Lynn Bria has announced the addition of point guard Victoria McGowan (Inkster, Mich.) to the 2009-10 Hatters roster.  Mcgowan, a transfer from Mid-American Conference powerhouse Bowling Green, will sit out the upcoming season in accordance with NCAA transfer regulations and will have sophomore eligibility in 2010-11.

McGowan, a 5'4” guard, played in 16 games off the bench for the Falcons as a freshman in 2008-09, averaging 1.0 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game for a BGSU squad that won the conference regular season championship and advanced to the WNIT round of 16.  Her best game statistically came in the MAC tournament quarterfinals against Central Michigan, where she notched six points, three rebounds and two assists in just 12 minutes of action.

Scholastically at Inkster High School in her hometown, McGowan paced the team to a berth in the Michigan state tournament semifinals with league and district crowns along the way.  She set a conference single-game scoring record with 44 points in one contest and earned All-State and All-Metro honors in 2008 for Head Coach Peggy Carr.

The daughter of Victor McGowan and Debra LeFlore was born Nov. 26, 1990 in Detroit, Mich. and intends to major in Sport Management at Stetson.  McGowan is the fourth player to transfer into Coach Bria's Hatter program from another NCAA Division I school in the last 12 months, joining Daphnee Frieson (Ole Miss), Natasha Graboski (Cincinnati) and Kerri Simpson (Florida).  Frieson, Graboski and Simpson will all be eligible this coming season for the new-look Stetson Hatters.
