Four Women's Tennis Players Win on Final Day at Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Four Hatters won in consolation play as the Stetson women's tennis team participated in the final day of competition at the Wake Forest Invitational on Sunday.

Sophomores Andrea Crespo and Eveline Lepinay both won on Sunday. Crespo topped Olga Bredikhina of Maryland by a score of 6-4, 7-5 in the A Bracket. Lepinay defeated Ashlyn Rang of Ball State 6-2, 6-7(6), 6-4 in the C Bracket.

Senior MayaBlue Stauffer-MacDowell and freshman Marta Gonzalez each won consolation contests in the D Bracket. The former beat Sarah King of App State 6-0, 6-1, while the latter won 6-3, 6-3 over Jessica Perez of Charlotte.

Two Hatters lost in finals competition on Sunday. Senior Diana Bukajeva was defeated by Ball State's Courtney Earnest by a score of 6-4, 6-4 in the B Final. Freshman Brittany Hill, meanwhile, lost 6-3, 7-5 to Denny Lamachia of Richmond in the F Final.

Stetson will continue fall play October 10-13 at the Bedford Cup in Gainesville, Fla.
