During the 2013 season, Matuszczak was at the finish line for a number of his team's highlighted accomplishments, including second place finishes for the men at the North Florida XC Challenge (Aug. 31) and the Embry-Riddle Invite (Sept. 21), as well as a first place performance for the women at the same Embry-Riddle Invitational (Sept. 21). The Stetson women also racked up a second place finish at the FLRunners Invite (Sept. 27) and were tied for third at the North Florida Challenge in Jacksonville (Aug. 31).

The men finished in eighth place at the A-Sun Championships in Nashville, while the women were 10th. Following the season senior Andrew Epifanio was named to the Atlantic Sun Academic All-Conference Team and during the course of the year freshman Amanda Spring became the first Stetson cross country runner to be named the A-Sun's Runner of the Week, as she took home the distinction for the week of Sept. 9th.

In 2012, it was Matuszczak's second year at the helm of the program and he guided the Hatters to a number of top five finishes inlcuding a first place performance for the men at the FLRunners Invite (Sept. 28) and a fifth place finish for the women in that same event. The men finished off the 2012 campaignw ith a ninth place finish at the A-Sun Championships in Buckingham, Fla., while the women placed 10th. Following the season senior Kyle Burton was named to the Atlantic Sun's Academic All-Conference Team for his performance in the classroom and on the course during his final year of competition.

2011 was Matuszczak's first season as head coach for Stetson after serving as an assistant in 2010. He saw immediate success in his new position, leading both the men's and women's teams to numerous top five finishes throughout the year. The men saw a pair of second place finishes in 2011, while placing third at the FLRunners Invite (Sept. 30). The women saw equal success on the course that season, finishing third a total of two times and placing fifth in the FLRunners Invitational in Titusville.

The Hatter men closed out the year with a ninth place finish at the conference championships in Nashville, while the women placed 10th. Perhaps the team's greatest success that first season was their performance in the classroom as a total of 13 Stetson men and women cross country student-athletes were named to the Atlantic Sun's Honor Roll. Stephanie Bird and Mariah Harper were named to the conference's presidential scholar list for having a grade point average of 3.8 or higher.

Matuszczak'a first year in DeLand was in 2010, serving as an assistant for then head coach Mallory Dunn. While on the staff he helped coach the Hatter men and women and prepare them for a number different events, including the Hatter Invitational (Oct. 15), which Stetson hosted. The Hatters closed out the season at the A-Sun Championships in Spartanburg, S.C., where the men placed 10th and the women 11th.

Matuszczak is a native of Palm Coast, Fla., where he attended Flagler-Palm Coast High School under legendary head coach Peter Hopfe. Following his decorated high school career, he went on to star at Stetson with high school teammate Mike Cianciulli under longtime Hatter head coach John Boyle.
