DeLand, Fla. - The Men's Basketball Team at Stetson has posted an impressive 2.98 Grade Point Average for the Spring 2010 semester.  Eight of Fourteen players earned a 3.0 or better and two players posted perfect 4.0 grade point averages.

"We do not keep records, but I am sure that this is up there as one of the highest achieving academic semesters in school history and I am confident it is one of the best men's basketball team academic performances in the Southeast",  said Stetson head basketball coach Derek Waugh.

Even more impressive is the fact that five seniors graduated in the Spring, and the eight returning scholarship recipients for 2010-11 posted a 3.13 grade point average. Stetson is ranked in the top 10-20% nationally in APR (Annual Progress Rate calculated by the NCAA) for Division I Men's Basketball Teams.

"This year was a struggle on the court and that is ultimately what we are judged on. However, academically and recruiting wise, we had a fantastic year",  added Waugh.
