DeLand, Fla. - After a series sweep at the hands of the Texas Rangers, two wins over the past ten games, and a position in the standings 12.5 games behind the division leading St. Louis Cardinals, the Houston Astros have finally decided to make some roster moves which included the recalling of former Stetson standout third baseman Chris Johnson.
Johnson began the season with the big club and played in eight games before suffering a strained muscle and being placed on the DL. When he returned he was reassigned to Triple A Round Rock where he has hit an impressive .329 with eight home runs and 33 RBI in 38 games.
Johnson led the Hatters to back-to-back Atlantic Sun Conference tournament championships in 2005 and 2006. As a junior he earned All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball and the College Baseball Foundation. He hit .376 with 11 home runs and 66 RBI. He was later drafted in the 4th Round by the Astros.
