Powell Earns A-Sun Pitcher of the Week Honor

DeLand, Fla. - Stetson's Robbie Powell has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week. It is the first weekly conference award for the junior out of Punta Gorda, Florida.

Powell made three relief appearances on the week and picked up wins over Bethune-Cookman and Florida State. He pitched the final inning and faced three batters with two strike outs against the Wildcats and then tossed a season-high 3.2 innings, struck out five batters and held the #4 ranked Seminoles scoreless to secure a big win for the Hatters.

On the week Powell totaled 7.0 innings pitched, allowed just one earned run, struck out 11 batters, and finished 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA.

On the season Powell is now 4-0 with a 1.14 ERA and a team-high four saves. He has struck out 23 batters and walked just five. Opponents are batting a meager .209 against the Stetson closer.

The Hatters are 20-5 overall this season and 7-2 in A-Sun games. Stetson plays a home-and-home series with UCF on Tuesday and Wednesday (6:30 p.m. starts), and then will travel to Spartanburg, South Carolina for a weekend series with USC Upstate (Friday at 6:00 p.m. and doubleheader Saturday at 1:00 p.m.).
