DeLand, Fla. - Senior third baseman Jill Semento (Umatilla, Fla.) of the Stetson softball team has been named to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District III First Team for 2011, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) organization announced this weekend.  Semento graduated from Stetson on Saturday with her Sport Management degree and will be eligible for the Academic All-America Team ballot.

Academic All-District selections must maintain a minimum 3.30 cumulative GPA and have played 50 percent or more of their team's contests as a starter or significant reserve.  Semento, a 2010 A-Sun All-Tournament Team and All-Academic Team honoree, hit .300 this season for the Hatters and led the team in home runs (seven), RBI (29), walks (29) and HBP (11).  The transfer from South Carolina hit 10 home runs in her two seasons at the hot corner at Patricia Wilson Field.  All First Team selections move on to be considered for Academic All-America First, Second and Third Team honors.

This is the fourth consecutive season in which a Stetson softball player has been named to a District III All-Academic Team; the last First Team pick for the Hatters was Andrea Migliori '09 in her junior year of 2008.  Four other Atlantic Sun Conference players joined her on the All-District III squad: USC Upstate pitcher Morgan Childers (First Team), Campbell infielder Sarah Forgacs (Second Team) and outfielder Lizzie Goldbach (Second Team) and Kennesaw State infielder Brittany Moore (Second Team).
