DeLand, Fla. - The Stetson sand volleyball team (5-7) split two home matches on Friday, falling 5-0 to undefeated Florida State (13-0) before rebounding for a 4-1 win over Florida Atlantic (0-4) at the Stetson Sand Volleyball Complex. The victory over the Owls snapped a five-match losing streak for the Hatters.

The Hatters won the first four regulation matches of the afternoon session against FAU in straight sets and added an exhibition victory in three sets that did not count towards the final score. The Owls earned their lone point on a three-set comeback win at the top of the lineup. Freshman Maren Rygh (Tonsberg, Norway) put up a 14-kill, 16-dig double-double in victory at the #2 seed for the Hatters while both freshman Julie Bassett (Wadsworth, Ohio) and sophomore Kaley Melville (New Germany, Minn.) recorded monster stat lines in their tough three-set defeat.

Stetson will host A-Sun foe Jacksonville at 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 10 in its final home match of the season.
