DeLand, Fla. - Stetson Sand Volleyball Head Coach Tim Loesch is proud to announce the addition of six players to his squad for the Spring 2013 season. Four junior college transfers and two freshmen will add depth to the Hatters in their second year as a varsity program.

Arriving at Stetson this fall as freshmen will be Kendale Speyerer (Winter Haven, Fla.) and Madison Tormey (Orlando, Fla.). Speyerer played three seasons of varsity volleyball at Lake Region High School where she led Polk County in digs. She served as president of the Girl's State Executive Board, was a National Honor Society member and ranked in the top five percent of her graduating class. Tormey graduated from Olympia High School in 2011 and is currently studying at St. Andrew's School in Nassau, Bahamas to get her International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.

The other four members of the incoming class will be juniors, including Lake-Sumter Community College teammates Jordann Dierickx (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Kirsten Germeroth (Tavares, Fla.). Germeroth recorded 571 digs as a sophomore for the indoor team to rank among the NJCAA national leaders while Dierickx, the team's primary setter, racked up 1,056 assists, 316 digs and 85 kills. The latter was a First Team All-First Coast honoree as a senior at Jacksonville's Providence High School in 2009 and is a descendant of legendary Notre Dame football coach Knute Rockne. LSCC's interim head coach in 2011 was Jim Hoffman, father of Stetson sand volleyball rising senior Alisha Hoffman.

Erin Robertson (Tulsa, Okla.) and Kara Young (Port Orange, Fla.) round out the incoming class. Robertson tallied 66 kills, 131 assists, 37 aces and 208 digs as a sophomore at St. Petersburg College; prior to SPC she was an All-State honoree and honor student at Bishop Kelley High School in her native Tulsa. Robertson helped lead the BKHS Comets to three Oklahoma state titles. Young registered a team-high 540 digs in 2011 as a sophomore at Brevard Community College and was among the top 50 nationally in that category. She earned an FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week award. A 2010 graduate of Spruce Creek High School, the local product has focused her training on sand volleyball in recent years with several titles at beach events in Daytona Beach and St. Augustine to show for it.

These six players join sophomore Catherine Coston (Pierson, Fla.), who transferred to Stetson in January 2012 from Southeastern University and will also play on the indoor team, to increase Stetson's sand volleyball roster from 13 players in its inaugural season to 17 in 2013. The Hatters went 9-8 overall in 2012 and finished second in the inaugural Atlantic Sun Conference Championships.

Slated returnees include A-Sun Freshman of the Year Julie Bassett (Wadsworth, Ohio), A-Sun All-Tournament Team selections in junior Katie DiGirolamo (Bradenton, Fla.) and sophomore Stephanie Marin (Naples, Fla.) as well as Bassett's partner in the AVCA Collegiate Sand National Championships, junior Kaley Melville (New Germany, Minn.)
