ORLANDO, Fla. –
The Stetson women’s tennis team finished day two at the Knights Invitational.
The Hatters picked up six total wins in singles and doubles.
In doubles, two of the four pairs picked up wins. Sara
Lazarevic and Jen Miller defeated Katie Spivak and Caroline Eberhart 8-5.
Clarke Tatje and Rachel Luke won their match, defeating Ann-Sophie Porry and
Jenna Doerfler 9-8 (6).
Diana Bukajeva and Andrea Crespo were defeated by Genevieve
Lorbergs and Josephine Haraldson (UCF) 9-7. Courtney Griffith and Sofia Baptista
(UCF) defeated the duo of Lindsey Cable and MayaBlue Stauffer-MacDowell 8-4.
In singles play, four hatters came away with victories.
Andrea Crespo defeated Ana Pimienta (Marquette) 6-1, 6-1. Lindsey Cable won her
match, defeating Rocio Diaz (Marquette) 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6). Jen Miller
defeated Ali Dawson (Marquette) 6-3, 6-1 and Diana Bukajeva defeated Laia
Hernandez (Marquette) 6-1, 6-4.
Clarke Tatje fell to Erin Gebes (Marquette), losing 6-3,
6-3. Aleeza Kanner (Marquette) defeated MayaBlue Stauffer-MacDowell 6-2, 7-5.
Vanessa Foltinger (Marquette) was victorious over Rachel Luke 6-0, 6-1 and Sara
Lazarevic fell to Aina Hernandez 6-4, 6-4.
"The team played excellent
doubles today against a very good UCF team,” Director of Tennis Pierre Pilote
said. “The singles matches against Marquette were played with high
intensity, which bodes well looking ahead to tomorrow's matches vs. FGCU in
doubles and UCF in singles"
The Hatters will finish play at the Knights Invitational
tomorrow.
