Over the weekend, the Men’s Soccer Club traveled to Gainesville to compete in the Florida Fall Invitational. In their pool were the familiar faces University of Central Florida, Florida Gulf Coast University and University of Florida. On Friday the Hatters faced the Eagles of FGCU. The Eagles scored quickly in the first half, catching the Hatter off guard. The Hatters had control of the midfield and gave themselves opportunities to score, but failed to cash in on the chances, with shot going wide every time.  The Hatters defense clogged passing lanes for most of the second half.  However, the Eagles capitalized on any mistake the defense gave, and scored each time in the second half, resulting in a final score of 3-0 Eagles.

On Saturday, the Hatters faced the Knights of Central Florida, and the hosts, the Gators of the University of Florida.  In the first game on Saturday, the Hatters held the Gators scoreless for the first 15 minutes of the game. The Hatters had three goal scoring opportunities in the first half and could not put the ball away.  In the second half the Gators sped away from the Hatters and the game ended 6-0 in favor of the Gators.  The in second game of the day the Hatters faced UCF.  With only an hour in between games, the Hatters fought hard with the Knights, but early goals by the Knight within the first 20 minutes took all momentum away from the Hatters. The tired Hatters stood tall against the Knight, but fell 8-0.
