Yesterday the Stetson Soccer Club hosted the Florida
Atlantic University Owls, in their final home game of the year. The Owls started the game off quick with a 2nd
minute goal, but Stetson responded with a 9th minute goal by Daniel
Marulanda, with the assist from Christian Kittle. The Hatters defense, led by Daniel Hoover and
Valentine Winkler, frustrated the Owls, forcing them to take hard shots and not
letting them have position. In the 25th
minute, a solid pass from Karif Otto, led to the second Hatter goal of the
afternoon by Itso Belichovski. The Hatters led at halftime 2-1, with all the
momentum and confidence. Early in the
second half, FAU tied the game, with a goal in the 41st minute. Soon after the quick goal, the Hatters
rebounded with a long distance strike by Stephan Farias to give the Hatters a
3-2 lead. After regaining the lead,
several bad breaks fell on the Hatters, with some players playing outside the
natural positions. The Owls kept pressuring
the Hatters, and got rewarded with hard struck goals past the Hatter
defense. When the game was over, FAU
came out with a 6-3 victory.
Stetson Soccer Club travels to south Florida in two weeks to
