Members of the
Stetson Ultimate team participated at the 20th Annual Janus Tournament in
Bradenton Florida this past weekend. This marks the first major tournament that
the newly created Stetson Ultimate team has attended this year. The tournament
brought ultimate players from all over the state including the renowned Brodie
Smith who plays in the American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL). Stetson Ultimate
created a conglomerate team with the Embry Riddle Dirty Birds to create a mixed
team (male & female) dubbed Huckosaurus. Stetson Ultimate members Zach
Kisch, Jeremiah Fues, Michelle Jensen, and Harold Barnes were responsible for a
combined 5 assists, 4 TDs, and forced 5 turnovers. Huckosaurus played valiantly
but in the end the teams they faced were far more experienced including two
time defending mixed division champ Throwtorious. But according to Jeremiah
Fues, "The tournament was a lot of fun, we got a lot of experience, and we
made a lot of friends." Stetson Ultimate now looks forward to hosting
another hat tournament and participating in the Frost Breaker tournament this
coming March.
