Stetson University golfer Andrew Peterson was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Golfer of the Week following his performance at the Gary Freeman/Bethune-Cookman Invitational Tournament last weekend.
Peterson is the second Stetson freshman to earn the honor this year, joining with Dustin Dingus, who was named the league’s Golfer of the Week on October 31.
A native of Andover, Minn., Peterson posted his first career top five finish with an eight-over par score of 224, which was his best score in an event this year, besting his previous low tournament score by three shots. He finished seven shots off the tournament lead, in a tie for fifth with Dingus and one other player.
The two freshmen helped the Hatters to a third place finish as a team in the tournament.
The Hatters will return to tournament play on Monday and Tuesday, March 4-5, at the Charleston Shootout in Charleston, SC.
